You are invited to bring your children every 6 months for an examination and preventive services. Children who are at risk for cavities should come every 3 months.
Clinical examinations include an evaluation of dental development and eruption and facial growth, as well as looking for cavities and other oral tissue problems.
Panoramic and cephalometric radiographs help us monitor tooth development and facial growth. Routine dental x-rays ensure detection of small cavities to prevent larger cavities and toothaches. Tooth eruption, dental spacing and orthodontic considerations are taken into account when planning dental restorative work like fillings, root canal treatments and crowns.
Problems are demonstrated to the parent at the dental chair. The parent looks with the dentist at the x-rays and into the childs mouth and can ask questions and point out concerns. The parent observes the child during the exam and helps the dentist decide how best to manage the childs behavior for any treatment required.
